Tragedy as man dies after huge 999 response outside hotel

A man died after emergency services were called to a scene in Balsall Common. A large 999 presence was seen outside the Haig’s Hotel on Kenilworth Road.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it received a 999 call to report a medical emergency at just after 2.45pm on Saturday afternoon, September 7. Two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were dispatched to the scene.

Medics found a man, who has not been identified, in a critical condition. A WMAS spokesperson said nothing could be done to save his life.

The spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Kenilworth Road at 2.46pm, two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
