Protest as developer wants 69-home estate in ‘fantastic’ Stoke-on-Trent location

Placards have been erected in protest over plans to build dozens of homes. The signs have appeared on the side of Outclough Road, in Brindley Ford.

StokeonTrentLive has been told that plans have been lodged to build 69 homes on land between Finch Street and Peck Mill Lane. But the planning application has still to be published by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Brindley Ford residents first heard about the proposed development more than a year ago when a flyer was posted through their doors and a consultation was carried out. Neighbours’ concerns include increased traffic as well as the loss of wildlife and privacy.

Resident Westley Holland said: “There is loads of nature on there like bats and deer. I’m surprised they’re allowed to even do it being so close to Chatterley Whitfield and all the mineshafts around there.”

Neighbour Carla Tracey added: “It’s just how close it is and then obviously the traffic with this road and it’s going to be producing more traffic. Our privacy will be gone with how close they will be to us.”

Developer Gleeson Homes is behind the proposed development.

A Gleeson Homes spokesperson said: “Gleeson is delighted to have lodged a planning application for 69 homes in this fantastic location. We are currently awaiting the application to be validated from the council. Should Gleeson be granted planning, we anticipate high demand for our quality homes.”
