EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Could Prince William give Beatrice and Eugenie royal duties?

There has been much speculation about a potential return to some royal duties for Prince Harry.

However, at New York Climate Week all the talk was about a bigger role in ‘The Firm’ for one of his cousins, who was also in the city.

Princess Beatrice was in the Big Apple for a Youth Impact Council event while her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York was there to take part in a Global Citizen panel talk about Climate Solidarity in the Commonwealth.

Before she set off, Fergie, 64, spoke to me about how Beatrice, 36, and her sister, Princess Eugenie, 34, were trying to follow in the footsteps of their late grandmother Queen Elizabeth when it comes to public service and duty.

‘All the York family have always been 100 per cent in support of their grandmother and what Britain stands for, and the integrity of good values and the monarchy,’ she tells me. ‘I always brought them up that if you feel bad about yourself, give to others and then you’ll feel better.’

Speaking at a Knights of Charity event, the duchess adds of her daughters with Prince Andrew: ‘They are extraordinary at what they do. Eugenie has the Anti-Slavery Collective and other things. Beatrice is really extraordinary about dyslexia and education. Big Change is her charity to make education more accessible all over the world.’

King Charles is said to see no role as ‘working royals’ for his nieces, but there have been signs that Prince William could see the value in leaning on his cousins when he ascends the throne.

In May, Beatrice and Eugenie attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace to support the Prince of Wales in the absence of his wife, Catherine. They were joined in the rain by their cousins Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips.

A palace source said at the time: ‘It was very much that the Prince of Wales wanted to invite his cousins along because [he knew] it would be fun to see all of the young royals there.’

Earlier that month, they made a surprise joint appearance as they attended a garden party at the Haven House Hospice, in Woodford Green, London, which works to ‘fund specialist care to children who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions’.

The duchess says her daughters have been inspired by her own philanthropy. She tells me: ‘It’s what I do. The most important message is, “Don’t just say it – do it”.’

That’s a lot of lap for a dog, Demi…

Either Demi Moore is getting smaller or her trousers are getting bigger…

The Hollywood star wore ‘balloon cargo trousers’ to a screening of her horror film The Substance at BFI Southbank in London.

Made by Spanish firm Loewe, they cost £1,500 – well, they clearly used a lot of cotton. Ghost star Demi, 61, took her pet Pilaf to see her movie, but was tight-lipped about the chihuahua’s reaction. In June, she said Pilaf was ‘moved’ by Tom Holland’s stage performance in Romeo and Juliet.

Demi’s film shows a vomited breast – and some critics have said it’s a bit of a dog’s dinner.

Penguin seeks press officer for Richard Osman

Authors often complain that publishers fail to promote their books, so it may stick in their craw that Penguin is seeking a press officer to work solely for Richard Osman, the former Pointless host now writing best-selling novels such as The Thursday Murder Club.

The applicant who becomes Osman’s ‘senior campaigns manager’ will earn up to £49,000 a year.

Not just a pretty face! £31million Cara has a head for business

Her hard-partying ways once caused accountants to question the future viability of her business, but despite her ups and downs Cara Delevingne remains fabulously rich.

Newly published accounts for her modelling and acting firm, Cara & Co, report that it has £31.3million in ongoing earnings. Among her assets, Cara sits on £15.4million in investments and £7.7million in cash and has art worth £633,000.

Still, it’s not all good news: Her firm, which has three members of staff, returned a £2.4million loss for the year. Cara admitted last year that she fell into a ‘bad place’, which led her to seek help from a therapist.

Her health issues culminated in worrying photographs in the media of her appearing jittery and shoeless after a sleepless night.

McCartney’s brother spent 80th birthday in hospital

Sir Paul McCartney’s brother, Mike, spent his 80th birthday in hospital with an undisclosed condition, but recovered for the launch party for The Closest Thing To Crazy, the memoir of his pal Mike Batt, who wrote the 1970s classic Bright Eyes and lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom Of The Opera.

Mike, whose band The Scaffold had a No1 hit, Lily The Pink, in 1968, tells me at Gerry’s Club in Soho: ‘I am going to perform the Slapstick Festival in Bristol with comedian Adam Hills.’

Designer’s bombshell venture

Bombshell London clothing, whose famous fans included Queen Camilla and Nigella Lawson, went into liquidation earlier this year owing nearly £600,000, as I revealed at the time.

But now I learn that Bombshell owner and designer Katya Wildman, who specialised in 1950s-style dresses, plans to rise from the ashes with a range under her own name.

Wearing a ballgown in a video on her website, the former TV costume designer says: ‘I am excited to say that the Katya Wildman brand is my new venture. Coming soon.’ There is no mention of the collapse of her previous firm, formed in 2009, which left her ‘heartbroken’.

Nigella hit the headlines when she bought one design in several colours, while Camilla wore a £269 Bombshell dress, pictured, on a tour of Rwanda in 2022.

It remains to be seen whether Katya’s creditors will be impressed by her reinvention.

Katy Perry finds husband’s housework ‘really sexy’

How do you seduce a pop star? With a mop and duster, apparently. US singer Katy Perry, 39, finds her fiance Orlando Bloom’s willingness to do housework ‘really sexy’.

She says of the Canterbury-born actor, 47: ‘We call him Orlando BROOM!’ Perry says his helpfulness lightens her load and gives her space.

She adds that if men ‘can create that space by taking on some of the responsibilities, then it’s like, “Oh, we’ve got time to have fun now”’.
