A user of Vinted in the United Kingdom alleged that the premium parcel service, Royal Mail, was turned on for some users without explicitly notifying them. They alleged in a post on Reddit that the option to turn it off was greyed out for many, making it tricky to find the right option and revert it to the normal parcel.

A user called Dismal Pomegranate wrote in a community of Vinted, the second-hand clothes buying and selling platform, that ‘a lot of accounts’ allegedly faced the issue.

The user wrote: “Just a PSA, Vinted UK have enabled Royal Mail option on a lot of accounts and have greyed out the ability to turn it off. Just be wary in case you are not aware of this and its worth checking to see if you are affected. Ive had to switch holiday mode on until this is resolved.”

Vinted is yet to issue an official statement. However, several Reddit users underneath the post reported facing similar issues.

“What a stupid thing to do,” one user wrote. “I’ve just left them feedback about it through the app. Not looking for a reply but if enough people also leave feedback about it they might realise it’s a ‘mistake’ and revert it.”

Another users wrote: “I work for a charity which uses vinted, due to where we stay we cannot use any other currier services other than Royal mail. When setting up our profile we made sure all the toggles for the other shipping options were switched off, then one day we started getting orders that were to be shipped with Evri.

“We contacted vinted for help and the reply was that there was a blip in the system where all options where enabled the issue was promptly fixed within a few days, so it’s probably just happened again, I would definitely keep complaining though to try resolve it as it was really annoying having to cancel customers orders and ask them to reorder with Royal mail,” the user added.
