As the Queen turns 90, here are some interesting facts about Her Majesty.
-She doesn’t have a passport. The Queen does not need a passport to travel. With the exception of strict immigration laws, the Queen can move freely without being checked because British passports are issued in her name.
-The Queen is fluent in French and has been filmed conversing freely with French leaders without the need for an interpreter.
-She was mechanical. Princess Elizabeth joined the army and worked as a mechanic in 1945. When her parents visited her at a military base, they found her working on a truck engine. Because of this she is said to be the only queen who can change a tire and a spark plug.
-Technically she owns all the unmarked swans in the UK. But she is also technically the owner of all ‘royal fish’, including whales and dolphins.
– Her passion for dogs is already known, but she also received two sloths (slots) as a gift in Brazil, during a visit in 1968. She also received jaguars and beavers as a gift from Canada. These animals have been donated to London Zoo.
-Despite being an old generation, the Queen sent her first email very early. Its first military email correspondence was made in 1976.
-She doesn’t need a license. As with the passport, it does not require a driving license. On one occasion she drove her car into the grass through a park to avoid a family strolling in Windsor.
-She has eight grandchildren and now five great-grandchildren. She is also the godmother of 30 people, reports mapo.
-In times of post-war austerity, the Queen collected savings bonds to pay for the materials used to make her wedding dress. Queen Elizabeth married her distant cousin, Prince Philip, in 1947, in a ceremony watched by 200 million listeners worldwide.
