USPS to continue nationwide delivery of COVID-19 test kits

By Linn’s Staff

The United States Postal
Service announced Oct. 2 that it will continue to deliver COVID-19 test kits nationwide.

Households in the United
States and its territories can order up to four test kits at no cost via the
website www.covidtests.gov.

The ordering period for the
test kits began Sept. 26, according to an Oct. 2 USPS press release.

When submitting an order,
customers “will have the option to provide an email address for updates,
including a confirmation email,” according to the Postal Service.

When an order is shipped, a
customer will receive an email with an estimated delivery date and a tracking
number to monitor their order’s journey through the mailstream.

“More than 12 million
COVID-19 tests have already been shipped by the USPS with more than 6 million
delivered to households across the nation,” the Postal Service said. “This
initiative marks the seventh time the Postal Service has played a crucial role
in distributing free at-home test kits to Americans.”

Working closely with the
White House and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, the
Postal Service has facilitated the distribution of approximately 900 million
test kits since the program began in the winter of 2021.

“The distribution of these
at-home test kits is a vital public health initiative from the Department of
Health and Human Services,” Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said. “We are proud
to continue our partnership in ensuring that every household has access to the
resources they need to stay safe and healthy.”

“This program aims to
provide communities with easy access to rapid at-home COVID-19 tests in the
coming weeks, especially when Americans prepare for travel and gatherings
through the 2024 holiday season, empowering individuals to test as needed,” the
Postal Service said.
