Runcorn resident selling ‘extremely rare’ NHS 50p for £4,000

The coin in question is a 50 pence piece commemorating the 50th anniversary of the National Health Service.

It was minted in 1998, with the seller commenting that there are ‘very few available’ of its kind.

The coin was designed by David Cornell, who is most famous for his Diana Princess of Wales Memorial £5 coin design.

It was issued to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Health Secretary Aneurin Bevan establishing the National Health Service, or NHS, in 1948.

The coin is being sold by a Runcorn seller on eBay for £4,000, or best offer, with second class Royal Mail postage costing an additional 85p.
