Nc’nean launches online bottle return scheme

Nc’nean has launched a bottle return scheme, available to customers ordering through the distillery’s UK website.

Every parcel sent to customers will now include free post return labels for empty whisky bottles, included on the delivery note.

Customers will be able to send the bottles back via Royal Mail for refilling.

According to Nc’nean, this makes it the first whisky distillery in Scotland to offer its own remote bottle return scheme for website customers.

The distillery estimates that each bottle returned will save 280g of carbon.

Founder of Nc’nean, Annabel Thomas, said: “If every bottle of whisky bought from a distillery’s website in Scotland could be returned for refilling, the collective carbon savings would be enormous.

“It’s an opportunity to significantly reduce waste and protect the environment – as fierce protectors of nature, it’s an initiative we are proud to lead.”

Nc’nean expressed hope that other distilleries will soon follow suit.

The distillery said the return scheme is a “significant step forward in sustainable practices within the whisky industry.”
