Sailflags becomes an EOT | Business Cornwall

Sailflags, a leading manufacturer of high-quality promotional flags in the UK, has officially transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

The Penzance-based company says the move, completed earlier this year, will benefit both employees and customers.

Founded in 1999 by Pete Williams, Sailflags quickly became a pioneer in the UK’s promotional flag industry. At a time when no other UK company was offering promotional advertising flags, his vision positioned Sailflags at the forefront of a growing sector.

Over the past 25 years, the competitive landscape has evolved considerably, with numerous print businesses diversifying into flag production. Despite this, Sailflags has maintained its edge by focusing on manufacturing some of the highest quality flags in the UK and offering fast delivery times.

The decision to become an EOT was driven by a desire to ensure Sailflags’ long-term sustainability while rewarding the dedication of its staff.

Under this new ownership model, the business is held in trust for the benefit of its employees, giving them a direct stake in the company’s future.

To guide the company through this new chapter, Adam Haycock has been appointed MD, with a strong focus on driving growth and development.

He said: “The move to employee ownership is about more than just securing the company’s future; it’s about creating a positive, dynamic work environment where everyone feels valued and invested in our shared success.”
