Santa’s personal greeting is then included in the instructions about how too write a letter to him. And even details are given about when it must reach him. A spokesman wrote: “It’s nearly Christmas, and we know you want to make sure that your letter to Santa Claus gets to him. Santa is as excited about Christmas as we are — read on to find out how to write to Santa. Make sure your letter reaches me by Monday 9 December and don’t forget your stamp!”

The Royal Mail even includes instructions from Santa himself which details all they need to know and where their letters to Father Christmas must be sent. The magical letter explains Santa is really busy at this time of year, but is excited about the coming big day.”

Santa’s letter

Dear Children

Are you looking forward to Christmas this year? I certainly am! Christmas is a very exciting but busy time for me.

The elves are busy making toys. The reindeer are practising their sleigh runs. And I’m busy preparing my list of who’s been good.

I will be getting my sleigh ready for the long journey on Christmas Eve. In between I will try and reply to as many of you as possible.

Please send your letters to:

Santa also added that care should be taken when writing and address the letter to ensure it reaches him on time. It also mentions mince pies for him and even reminds them not to forget a carrot for his reindeer Rudolph. He added: “Please make sure you write Santa’s address carefully on the envelope, put a stamp on the envelope so it gets to Santa and include your full name and address on the back of the envelope

“I’ll be replying to as many of your letters as I am able to from Monday, 18 November; but there are a lot of you, so your letter needs to reach the North Pole by Monday, December 9.”
