Residents of a road near Sevenoaks have expressed their frustration at not receiving any post for over three weeks.

People living on Collet Road in Kemsing have been waiting for important letters such as medical appointments, bank statements and cheques.

Michael Creasey, who regularly attends Moorfields Eye Hospital and is waiting for confirmation of an appointment early next year, said: “It’s a bit of a worry.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson said letters and parcels were treated with equal importance and if a route experienced a delay, it would look to prioritise that area the next day.

Mr Creasey said he regularly phones his doctor’s surgery for updates.

“I should have the letter by now,” he said.

Post vans are still seen on the quiet estate on the edge of the village but are only delivering parcels.

Royal Mail are legally obliged to deliver all addressed mail, which includes mail that is addressed “To the Occupier”, as well as mail that is personally addressed to an individual by name.

Penny Tooth has also not had any mail for over three weeks and was told by one of the postmen that they didn’t have time to put letters through her door.

She said: “I spoke to one of them who told me that because we are at the end of their round, they are over their hours, so have to return to the depot before they can reach our road.”

Ms Tooth has also attempted to collect her post from the Royal Mail sorting office in Tonbridge 10 miles away, but was told it was not possible.

“We’re all very angry. We can’t get our mail and it’s stuck in a sorting office,” she said.

The Royal Mail said: “We encourage anyone who has concerns about their deliveries to contact us directly.”
