Brits are being urged to get their last-minute Christmas deliveries together as soon as possible after Royal Mail, Evri and Yodel announced their final deadlines ahead of the bank holidays. Yodel has the earliest deadline as you’ll need to send out your items by Monday, December 16th, if you want them to arrive in time for Christmas Day.
You can send your parcel between December 17th and 23rd but these likely won’t arrive in time as Yodel drivers won’t be collecting or delivering any parcels between December 24 and December 28. The company has also noted on its website that deliveries are “taking a little longer” than usual due to the high demand.
Royal Mail is not too far behind with their own deadline of December 18 for second class post while first class post should be able to make it to their destination before Christmas Day if they’re posted by December 20th, according to Leicestershire Live. After this deadline, last-minute deliveries will have to be made through the pricier options of Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Special Delivery Guaranteed in order to arrive by December 25.
Finally, Evri is warning customers their final courier collection is December 19th while its final standard delivery parcel collection from ParcelShops is 11am on December 20th. Next-day delivery items need to be at the ParcelShop by 11am on December 21 in order to arrive before Christmas.
The deadline passed earlier this week for most international deliveries through Evri. However, people sending items to Ireland, UAE or the Netherlands have until the end of the day, December 12th, to ship these off in the hopes they’ll arrive by December 25.
Storm Darragh has also impacted some of the deliveries currently under way by these companies. Evri in particular still has a service status warning in place that notes: “The safety and wellbeing of our people is a top priority, and our colleagues have worked tirelessly to process parcels where it has been safe to do so.
“Areas impacted by the difficult weather conditions and challenging driving conditions may see some delays of 24 to 48 hours. All other areas of the UK appear to be operating as previous, however we are keeping a close eye on any localised issues that may arise over the weekend.”
