It’s time to mark your calendars as Royal Mail has rolled out its “cut off” dates for Christmas deliveries, impacting UK households amid rising postal costs. In a recent notice, the mail service emphasised: “Allow plenty of time for posting. Please post items and gifts for Christmas early, particularly for international deliveries.”
The announcement also highlighted the importance of planning ahead: “Latest posting dates are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change. It’s always advisable to post as early as possible to ensure that your Christmas letters and parcels reach their destination in good time.”
For those sending abroad, Royal Mail provides an International Incident Bulletin to stay informed about any delays.

Domestically, December 18 is pegged as the deadline for second class mailings according to Royal Mail. The bulletin further clarifies that December 20 is the final chance for first class postage options and Royal Mail Tracked 48.
To up the ante, Royal Mail Tracked 24 must be sent by December 21, while December 23 serves as the last call for Special Delivery Guaranteed, reports Birmingham Live.
The Post Office has today (17 December) confirmed the swift rollout of its first additional remuneration payment to postmasters, with a handsome £20 million boost landing in their pay packets this December. Acting CEO Neil Brocklehurst said: “As we implement our ‘New Deal for Postmasters’ we are fast-tracking payments to postmasters in recognition of the challenging trading conditions they are currently experiencing.
“Our customers want services in the run-up to Christmas that are convenient and in-person, and that’s what our postmasters and retail partners offer. We want our postmasters to focus on what they do best, serving their communities, and not to be worried about making ends meet”.
