Weather: Yellow warning as snow forecast in Basingstoke

The cold weather this week has seen temperatures fall well below 0C across the south, with a yellow weather warning issued across Hampshire this weekend.

Readers are advised to wrap up warm today as temperatures are unlikely to exceed 3C.

The latest forecast from the Met Office, accurate at the time of writing, suggests the heavy snow may miss our town, instead, we will receive sleet shower followed by heavy rainfall.

From 5pm to 8pm this evening, Basingstoke is due to be hit with sleet showers with highs of 2C in this period but with a ‘feels like’ temperature of -2C.

From 9pm onwards heavy rain is due to fall, ending any chances of building a snowman this weekend.

Temperatures will pick up again on Sunday, as high as 12C, although this increase will be short-lived as temperatures drop again on Monday.

Sunday is forecast to see rain all day, with winds likely to reach around 41mph.
