Newport mix up for Royal Mail – Isle of Wight Observer News

The Royal Mail van in Brighstone

The Royal Mail has managed to get Newport, Isle of Wight and Newport, South Wales, confused.

A van, sighted in Brighstone this week, came complete with a Post Brenhinol logo, the Welsh name for the Royal Mail. We asked the Royal Mail if it faces being returned to sender! However, a Royal Mail spokesman said it was actually intended for the Island, confirming: “This van was delivered as intended to Newport, Isle of Wight.

“However, it was incorrectly fitted with Welsh livery on one side by the business we contract to do such work. It was not possible to correct this during the peak period when demand was high, but it’ll be rectified as soon as possible.”
