The first phase of a £100 million terminal regeneration project at Leeds Bradford Airport is “on track to be complete.”
The news comes as Leeds Bradford Airport released figures indicating an incerase in passenger numbers and flights.
In 2024, there was a 5.8 per cent increase in passengers travelling from the airport compared to 2023, with over 4.24 million people flying.
The number of flights also rose by 6.2 per cent, with almost 32,000 flights throughout the year.
Alicante was the most popular destination in 2024, with more than 50,000 additional passengers flying to the Costa Blanca resort compared to 2023.
Dublin and Palma De Mallorca were also among the top three destinations in terms of passenger numbers.
The regeneration project will provide new baggage collection areas, enhanced security facilities, and two new customer lounges.
There will also be expanded retail and dining options, and improved accessibility.
The first phase of the regeneration project is set to be complete in spring/summer 2025.
Attention will then switch to phase two of the project, which involves redeveloping the existing terminal.
The airport also launched its “Faff Less. Holiday More” campaign in January 2025, showcasing the benefits and ease of travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport.
The campaign will be seen and heard in various formats, including outdoor advertising and radio.
Tom Holdsworth, Leeds Bradford Airport’s aviation development manager, said: “It’s been a remarkable year here at Leeds Bradford Airport and it’s great to see numbers of both passengers and flights continue to increase at a good level.
“Our existing partners, including easyJet, Jet2, KLM, Ryanair, and Wizz Air have continuously increased the number of flights and destination offerings for customers travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport throughout the year, plus we’ve welcomed SunExpress as a new airline partner.
“2025 is a really exciting year for us as the terminal regeneration really comes to life, and we’ll see customers enjoy a new travel experience from Leeds Bradford Airport in the summer.”
