Two postmarks for the Jan. 20
inauguration of Donald J. Trump as president of the United States will be
available from Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Postal Service will offer a
circular datestamp with four horizontal bars that include the words
“Presidential Inauguration Day Station” in the middle of the bar markings.
The circular datestamp reads,
“Washington DC 20066,” with the date in the center as “JAN 20 2025.” A second
pictorial design has “60th Presidential Inauguration” in bold text with bars
and five large stars surrounding text reading “2025 Station.”
The date reads “January 20, 2025”
spelled out along with the text “Washington, DC 20066.”
To obtain either postmark, address
your request to 60th Presidential Inauguration 2025 Station, indicating either
the Presidential Inauguration Day Station or 60th Presidential Inauguration
postmark, and send to USPS Stamp Fulfillment Services, 8300 NE Underground Dr.,
Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64144-9900.
Additional details on the deadline
for the postmarks are anticipated in the Feb. 6 issue of the Postal Bulletin.
Linn’s will include any further information regarding the postmarks in a
future Postmark Pursuit column.
The Postal Service also is offering a
cacheted presidential inauguration cover for $12.95 (USPS item No. 882160)
through Stamp Fulfillment Services and online.
This cover features a digital color
postmark design that is likely to be unavailable to collectors for servicing
their own covers if the Postal Service continues its tradition (since the early
2000s) of producing these premade cacheted covers.
