The 50th anniversary of AC/DC’s monumental debut album is being celebrated by the Royal Mail with the release of a set of eight stamps. The collection honours the band’s “electrifying” live performances and featuring some of their most iconic album covers.
Additionally, a miniature sheet presents four more stamps showcasing the covers of High Voltage from 1975 as well as Highway To Hell, Back In Black — the best-selling rock album in history — and Power Up, signifying the band’s resounding comeback in 2020.
The background design behind the stamps in the miniature sheet derives from their Black Ice album artwork. It comes as the legendary rockers announced a European tour which will conclude at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield on August 21 this year.
David Gold, Royal Mail director of external affairs and policy, said: “AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Over the past half-century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us Back In Black – the biggest-selling rock album of all time.
“These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music.”
