AC/DC commemorated with set of Royal Mail stamps

AC/DC has been commemorated with a set of Royal Mail stamps.

The Australian rock band is marking 50 years since their debut album, High Voltage came out in 1974, with the half-century anniversary receiving a special set of 12 commemorative stamps from Royal Mail.

A subset of the stamps will feature cover art from four of the band’s albums: High Voltage, Highway To Hell, Back In Black and Power Up.

“AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world,” explained David Gold, director of external affairs and policy at Royal Mail.

“Over the past half century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us Back In Black – the biggest-selling rock album of all time.”

Other stamps feature tour imagery of the band on stage.

“These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music,” Gold added.

The new set makes AC/DC the eighth musical artist to be given such an honour. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Spice Girls and The Who all previously received their own stamps.
