UK’s Royal Mail To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of AC/DC’s ‘High Voltage’ With New Stamps

More AC/DC

AC/DC have joined the likes of Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden, receiving special stamps through the UK’s Royal Mail.

The series of 12 stamps mark the 50th anniversary of AC/DC’s debut album, High Voltage, and showcase the band performing live across the globe. In addition to the stamps depicting the band live on stage, four of them spotlight the group’s iconic album covers of High Voltage, Highway To Hell, Back In Black, and Power Up.

Joining Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Queen, Spice Girls, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who, AC/DC are now the eighth group to be honoured with their own Royal Mail stamps.

David Gold, the Director of External Affairs and Policy at Royal Mail stated (via NME): “AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Over the past half-century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us ‘Back In Black’ – the biggest-selling rock album of all time.

“These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music.”

Earlier this year, a report from the Herald Sun featured a note saying the Aussie hard rock exports are “strongly tipped for stadium dates in the last quarter of 2025 as part of their Power Up tour”, according to “tour insiders.”

If this is true, the rumoured shows will coincide with the tenth anniversary of the band’s last tour of the country.

AC/DC haven’t toured Australia since 2015, when they embarked on their Rock Or Bust world tour, supporting the album of the same name. That tour was notable because it featured Phil Rudd on drums for the first time since 1994 and Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, replacing his uncle Malcolm Young, who retired in 2014 and passed away in 2017.

Since the conclusion of that tour in 2016 (which featured Brian Johnson being replaced by Guns N’ RosesAxl Rose due to hearing issues), AC/DC have been relatively quiet on the touring front, returning to the stage with limited shows since 2023.

The band’s 2025 plans include a return to the US and Canada, but at this stage, nothing is scheduled past May. Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams have been absent from the touring circuit and have been replaced by Matt Laug and Chris Chaney.
