A419 slip road: Fire service update after Swindon crash

The crash involving two cars took place on the A419 northbound slip road for Covingham just after 6pm on Sunday evening, February 9, and fire engines, ambulances and police cars were all called to the scene.

Traffic quickly reached standstill on the A419, as emergency services stopped drivers and queues stretched back as far as Swindon’s Royal Mail depot.

One eyewitness at the scene said: “There are two fire engines here, ambulances and lots of police.

“It looks like they’re currently treating a man.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service has now confirmed that crews from Swindon and Stratton attended as one of the two casualties was left trapped in their car on the slip road.
