Edinburgh Post Office warn ‘we are under siege by group of feral youths’

A community Post Office has claimed they are under siege by a group of feral youths who have caused thousands in damage at their store.

The staff at the Corstorphine Post Office branch have claimed they have had to contend with months of antisocial behaviour at the hands of a group of youths, with the latest incident seeing a trio abuse staff on Saturday February 15.

Those working at the store allege the youths have smashed up fridges costing the business £3,000-£4,000 as well as throwing rocks at their windows.

Not only this but they have also allegedly egged the shop, shoplifted and verbally abused staff members.

Those at the Post Office have decided to start sharing images of the alleged culprits in the hopes their parents will take action to curb the behaviour.

“I decided to put up some vague images which show their clothes as I feel their parents must recognise them,” a shop worker said. “We have clearer images and videos but decided against putting them on social media for now.

“About four weeks ago we had two youths smash and destroy our three fridges at the back of the shop. This cost us around £3,000-4,000.

“These kids are causing trouble for the past several months. They come into the Post Office and steal, make videos and push each other into the shelves causing damage to our stock.

“They throw juice and chocolates at each other and have thrown eggs and rocks at our windows at night. They also use abusive language and gestures all the time.

“We have caught them red handed many a time and told them to leave the shop but it never ends positively. They always come back and cause trouble.

“We have reported this to police several times but it seems nothing can be done because they are minors.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
