Donald Trump’s golf course in Scotland has been vandalised by a pro-Palestine group. Palestine Action posted earlier today (Saturday, March 8) pictures on social media showing red paint splattered across one of the buildings at the Turnberry resort.
The words “Gaza is not 4 sale” have also been sprayed across the lawn, and the golf course’s holes have been dug up. Various slogans, including ‘Free Palestine’, ‘Free Gaza’ and ‘F*** Trump’, have been painted at the entrance to the course in South Ayrshire.
Police Scotland confirmed they were investigating the incident. A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 4:40am on Saturday, Mach 8, we received a report of damage to the golf course and a premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry – enquiries are ongoing.”
This comes after Trump suggested the US could potentially ‘own’ the Gaza Strip and redevelop it into the ‘Riviera of the East’. On his Truth Social platform, the president shared an AI video – originally created as a satire by Los Angeles filmmaker Solo Avital – showing casinos, golden statues, and belly dancers at a hypothetical ‘Trump Gaza’ resort.
Palestine Action stated: “Palestine Action rejects Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes. To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance, and we will continue to take action against US-Israeli colonialism in the Palestinian homeland.”
A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry commented: “This was a childish, criminal act, but the incredible team at Trump Turnberry will ensure it does not impact business. Turnberry is a national treasure and will continue to be the number one beacon of luxury and excellence in the world of golf.”
Trump purchased the 119-year-old property for £46 million back in April 2014. The latter also features a luxury hotel and forms part of his broader investments in golf properties around the world.
