UK drivers are being urged by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to check if a decade has elapsed since they last renewed key car documents, especially those with personalised registrations dating back to 2015 or before.
Those in possession of a personalised number plate for over ten years may need to refresh their certificate. Those needing to renew can do so at no charge and should verify their document for the expiry date.
Switching attention to X (previously known as Twitter), DVLA’s message was clear: “Do you have a personalised registration that is not on a vehicle? If it’s been 10 years since the latest certificate or retention document for your registration was issued, you may need to renew it this year. It’s free to renew.”

Furthermore, the DVLA offers detailed guidance on the renewal process, timelines, and steps involved. As stated on the DVLA website: “If it has been 10 years since the latest certificate or retention document for your personalised registration number was issued, you may need to renew it this year.”
