MP MANUELA Perteghella is calling for a regulator to step in and hold Royal Mail to account for missing its local delivery targets.
Just 77.7 per cent of first-class deliveries in the CV postcode area were delivered on time in the last year, well below the 93 per cent target. This means that 15.3 per cent of first-class deliveries in CV were delivered late.
Stratford MP Dr Perteghella has campaigned to improve Royal Mail delivery times in Stratford recently, raising the issue in parliament and calling for more support for local delivery offices.
She has now called for greater accountability on missed targets to help improve parcel delivery and turn around a service that is “failing people here in Stratford-on-Avon”.
She also called on the regulator OFCOM to step in and “act on these unacceptable delays”.
Dr Perteghella continued: “These missed targets are shocking and are leaving countless people in the lurch here in Stratford-on-Avon. People rely on these deliveries and having them arrive on time to go about their lives and should not be forced to put up with this disruption.
“This saga has been going on for far too long and people are rightly sick to the back teeth of it. It is time OFCOM stepped in to act on these unacceptable delays and hold this failing service accountable for letting people down here in Stratford-on-Avon.
“I will continue to do everything in my power to pressure Royal Mail into finally turning this around so people in our area can finally get the service they expect and deserve.”
