We spent £20 at TRNSMT and here’s what we bought at the top Glasgow festival

With thousands of music fans descending on the east end of the city centre over the weekend, Scotland’s biggest music festival is a huge draw.

TRNSMT has returned and is bringing some of the UK’s top bands across three stages with acts like Biffy Clyro, The Kooks , Fontaines D.C. and Snow Patrol wowing the crowds over the weekend.

As people enjoy the top acts, Glasgow Live wanted to have a little fun and see how far our slim budget would take us.

Starting off with £20 we headed out to find out what food and drink we could grab and see how long it would last us.

A wee bit of scran to refuel

The bao buns were insanely good!

It’s already well into the hottest afternoon you can imagine and bands like Twin Atlantic and Nofun! have already rocked the stage, we took advantage of the break between some of the headliners to head for some scran and to be honest the sheer volume of options this year is, much like last year, pretty incredible.

There’s over 40 vendors, with a huge variety of scran on offer.

However, being pretty basic when it comes to food and it being a music festival in Scotland we just had to grab some classic takeaway dishes for as cheap as we could.

We managed to grab a pretty stunning bao bun at the BBC chill out section and a meaty portion of skin on fries for just £10.50 . (The baos were two for £12 so we split them and had one each for £6 ).

Leaving us a cool £9.50 to get drinks and something to cool us down, we don’t know if we mentioned but we were roasting!

Other options included gourmet hot dogs, kebab wraps and things like fried chicken, noodles and loaded fries.

Pints

The slush to cool down was a necessity

If we’d decided to focus on the liquid things first, we could have gone for a soft drink ( £3.15 ) giving us change to play with for something else food wise such as the belting pizza one of our team went for.

But going for the full festival experience we decided to grab a pint. Grabbing a pint each would have cost us £6.75 each.

It was also absolutely roasting so we had to get a slushy or an ice cream cone, the slushy was £4.05 (£5.40 for a large) while the cone was £4.50.

Overall for just over £20 (£21.50) – we got:

  • One big bao bun and portion of skin on fries (£10.50)
  • One Carlsberg Danish Pilsner (£6.75)
  • One ice cold slush drink (£4.05)
