Biker injured in crash ‘critical’ after discharging himself from hospital

A biker who was injured in a crash on the A419 is now in a critical condition after discharging himself from hospital, Wiltshire Police say.

Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A419 slip-road at Dorcan at around 4.4pm on Saturday (12 July).

The incident involved a Kawasaki motorbike, which came to rest on an island at the Wheatstone Road junction – near the Royal Mail depot.

The biker, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

At around 8.30pm, he self-discharged from hospital, and at around 3.40am this morning he was re-admitted in a life-threatening condition.

“Our enquiries into the collision are ongoing”, a force spokesperson said.

Adding: “Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 268 of yesterday’s date.

“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at [email protected].”
