Motorcyclist in life-threatening condition after Swindon crash

A motorcyclist in his sixties is in a life-threatening condition in hospital following what the police describe as a single-vehicle collision.

The man at one point discharged himself from hospital, only to be readmitted hours later.
Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on the A419 Dorcan slip road on the afternoon of Saturday 12 July.  
A force spokesperson said: “At around 4.40pm, we responded to a single vehicle collision involving a Kawasaki motorbike on the slip road to Wheatstone Road and the Royal Mail facilities.

“The rider, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

“At around 8.30pm, the rider self-discharged from hospital, however was readmitted at around 3.40am this morning, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

“Our enquiries into the collision are ongoing.” 

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 268 of 12 July.
