Swindon Fire Station to host open day this weekend

Swindon fire station will host an open day this Saturday to support the Fire Fighters Charity.

Running from 11am to 4pm, the event will feature displays of hot oil fires, technical rescues, and road traffic collision extrication.

Water-based demonstrations will not be held due to the ongoing hosepipe ban in Swindon.

Other attractions include first aid and CPR guidance from SWAS, a vintage emergency vehicles display, a raffle, a tombola, and a variety of refreshments.

Swindon Town FC’s Academy will also be present, offering a penalty shoot-out area.

Children can enjoy a bouncy castle.

Firefighter Lee Smitten, an event organiser, said: “We are hugely grateful to our sponsors and the many businesses and individuals who have made donations for the raffle, tombola and refreshments.

“We want this to be a great day for the whole family so, while we do want to raise as much money as possible for the Fire Fighters Charity, most of the activities are free.

“We’ve had fantastic open days over the last few years, so we’re looking forward to seeing lots of people on Saturday.”

Attendees are encouraged to use public transport as there is no parking available at the fire station, although nearby car parks are an option.
