Five men from Birmingham face lengthy jail sentences after a man was left with serious injuries after being shot with a sawn-off shotgun as he sat in his car in Darlaston.
Shamus Hussain, 26, from Floyer Road, Small Heath, Mohammed Ishtiaq, 23, from Oldknow Road, Small Heath and Abdullah Amjad, 22, from Allens Avenue, Winson Green, all appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday, Tuesday, July 29.
They all pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following an incident where a man was shot on Charles Foster Street, Darlaston, on October 11, last year.

Samir Khan, 19, from East Holme, Bordesley Green and Dilawar Khan, also aged 19, from Mansel Road, Small Heath, also pleaded guilty to the two charges. They will all appear back at Wolverhampton Crown Court for sentence later in the year.
The victim, who is aged in his 40s, was sitting in his car at around 9am when he was targeted by the men who arrived in a Toyota C-HR vehicle.
The gunman discharged a sawn-off shotgun towards the victim who was sitting in his vehicle, blowing the windows out. The man got out of the vehicle to run from the scene but the gunman also got out of the Toyota and pursued him.
He discharged a further two shots causing injuries to the victim’s face, hands and lower part of his body. The gunman then got in the vehicle which drove off.
Ambulance crews were called and the injured man was given treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital for further treatment for his injuries.
Detectives from the Major Crime Team at West Midlands Police trawled through hours of CCTV to establish the movements of the Toyota C-HR vehicle and a second vehicle, a Range Rover Evoque which had parked up in nearby Hampton Place.
CCTV showed after the shooting the Toyota pulled up and the shooter and a passenger of the Toyota C-HR got out and then got into the Range Rover.
Through CCTV officers were able to track the Toyota travelling back to the Birmingham area.
CCTV inquiries also helped police to show the meticulous planning involved the two days before the shooting with vehicles travelling to Darlaston and being left ready for the crime.
Footage showed the Range Rover and Toyota meeting at Hampton Place where two occupants of the Range Rover got into the Toyota and one occupant of the Toyota getting into the Range Rover before driving to the scene and missing the victim only by a few minutes.
This is the same pattern which took place the next day when the shooting took place.
After gathering evidence and identifying individuals police arrested five men on Garrison Lane in Birmingham on 22 October and took them into custody.
Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from the Major Crime Team, said: “The attack was premeditated with the offenders demonstrating a high degree of malice and an intention to cause the most serious of harm.
“It really was a really shocking outbreak of violence in which a sawn-off shotgun was discharged a number of times and a man was left with serious injuries. The attack was carried out in broad daylight on a busy road in a meticulously planned operation.
“We are delighted with the convictions. The five men are set to serve many years behind bars when they next appear in court for sentence.”
