STUDENTS in Shetland could get their exam results later than expected due to Storm Floris.
Pupils who requested their results by post may not receive them as planned tomorrow (Tuesday) because of widespread disruption caused by the storm, the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) has said.
Royal Mail has confirmed there will be delays to the delivery of SQA results to certain parts of Scotland, particularly Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides.
National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher results are due to be delivered to pupils across Scotland tomorrow.
No disruption is expected to those expecting their results by text or email.
Anyone affected by the delay that wants to know their results should contact their school or college in the first instance, the SQA said.
Alternatively learners can submit an enquiry via the SQA website, and their query will be responded to by its team after noon on Tuesday.
Meanwhile a dedicated helpline will open tomorrow to support the Scottish pupils and students awaiting their results.
The young people, as well as parents and carers, will be able to get support with their results through Skills Development Scotland’s results helpline, which opens from 8am on results day.
The helpline will be staffed by expert careers advisers to assist anybody that needs help with their options and next steps, providing impartial career information, advice, and guidance.
The number to call is 0808 100 8000, and the line will be open from 8am to 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 9am to 5pm on Thursday and Friday.
