Most pass rates above average as pupils receive exam results

MORE than 600 secondary pupils in Shetland are receiving their exam results today (Tuesday), with pass rates for a number of graded qualifications higher than the national average.

Following the prospect of delays due to Storm Floris, Royal Mail has confirmed that the mail plane carrying results from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) landed in Shetland this morning.

Results will be delivered to almost all households today with possible delays only to the outer isles postcodes.

Awards include National, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications by pupils in the senior phase, secondary four to six.

For graded qualifications:

  • The A-C pass rate for Shetland, at National 5 is 84.6 per cent. The Scottish average this year is 78.4 per cent.
  • The A-C pass rate for Shetland, at Higher is 73.7 per cent. The Scottish average this year is 75.9 per cent.
  • The A-C pass rate for Shetland at Advanced Higher is 81.3 per cent. The Scottish average this year is 76.7 per cent.
