Post office suspends mail to USA due to tariffs

Friday, 22 August 2025 17:55

The Isle of Man Post Office is suspending services to the USA this weekend.

Any mail sent to America from Saturday, August 23 will be returned to sender, though letters and correspondence are unaffected.

The change is due to a recent decision by the US government to remove a postal exemption which previously allowed goods valued under $800 to enter without import duty.

The Post Office says its partner Royal Mail is working towards a solution to restore services, but it cannot guarantee this will be in place before the new rules take effect.

Further updates will be posted on its website.
