In addition, she will attend a reception on the occasion of RAF Brize Norton’s 24 Squadron’s 110th anniversary.

The princess is the honorary air commodore of the base which has hit the headlines in recent months after Palestine Action protesters broke in and damaged some of the equipment.

The younger sister of King Charles III has a long association with Oxfordshire, in particular with the Brize Norton military base.

Just this year she presented an award to Flight Lieutenant Smith, handing her the Carmen’s Royal Air Force Cup for 2024 in recognition of her contribution to operational logistics.

In 2023 she attended a parade to mark the retirement of the Hercules transport aircraft and in 2017 she helped mark the 100th anniversary of the 99 squadron or the ‘squad that never sleeps’.

Planes from the military base are on active duty in Poland following Russian incursions into the Nato member’s airspace.

Princess Anne has also visited Carterton before.

In 2009 about 250 people welcomed her to the town where she opened a new £1.4 million community centre at Trefoil Way.
