Royal Mail has announced they will recruit 20,000 seasonal staff to help bolster deliveries for the Christmas period.
New position will be opened at two parcel hubs, four sorting facilities an across 37 mail centres across the UK in time for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Christmas rush.
Royal Mail will hire 3,00 delivery and collection positions along with 2,000 temporary HGV and MGV driving roles.
Some 12,000 mail centres and sorting positions will become available, Royal Mail will hire 2,000 people in Scotland, 600 in Wales and 400 positions in Northern Ireland.
Jamie Stephenson, Royal Mail’s interim chief operating officer, said, “As we do every year, we will be pulling out all the stops to make Christmas special for our customers.
“It’s the busiest time for us, and we work tirelessly behind the scenes – planning months in advance – to ensure everything runs smoothly.
“From delivering festive parcels to supporting online shopping, we’re investing heavily in extra resources, including thousands of seasonal team members, to help make sure every delivery arrives on time and with care.”
