Hospitality group Cubitt House has submitted plans with the Westminster City Council to change a former Royal Mail post office in Victoria into a pub led mixed use development.
The building, which is owned by Grosvenor, is located at 6 Eccleston Street, London, SW1 and consists of four storeys with a basement and is currently vacant, following the lease of the building ending at the end of 2024.
As per the plans, the lower ground floor will contain kitchen, wine room, staff area, and public WCs; the ground floor will be a pub, the first floor will be a restaurant, while the second and third floors will contain 10 boutique hotel bedrooms. Cubitt House has leased the whole building and will run the pub and the hotel.
Cubitt already operates eight public houses and three hotels in central London. The estimated cost of this proposal is up to £2m. The building was originally built as visitor accommodation for sailors and soldiers at the turn of the 20th century. The property was used by the Royal Mail from the 1970s for around 40 years.
The building works are expected to commence in February 2026, with an expected completion date of January 2027.
