St Blazey dog owner facing court after postman attacked

A dog owner from the St Blazey area has been summonsed to court after their pet allegedly attacked a postman.

St Austell Police said the incident happened in late 2024 when it was alleged the dog, while loose in a local park, bit the Royal Mail worker who was completing his rounds.

On Tuesday, October 7, St Austell Police said the owner would now be facing court action.

They added that under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 it is a criminal offence for any dog breed to be dangerously out of control anywhere including:

– in a public place

– in a private place such as a neighbour’s house or garden

– in the owner’s home

‘Dangerously out of control’ may be considered as injuring another person or animal or causing someone to fear injury.
