Solar panels will be installed to power a new drawer, allowing customers to deposit small parcels.
Some residents have voiced concerns about the postboxes being out of action, with the tape first appearing last week.

Walton councillor Pierre Oxley said: “We’ve had a number of residents contact us about the missing and damaged postboxes in Walton, and we completely share their frustration.
“Access to basic postal services is something every community should be able to rely on.
“We have already raised this matter directly with Royal Mail and requested a clear update on when the replacement postboxes will be installed.
“Residents deserve clarity and action, not ongoing inconvenience.
“As soon as we have confirmation or timescales from Royal Mail, we’ll make sure the community is fully updated.”
Some residents are upset with the change and disruption.
Mark Pulfer, of Walton, said: “It does not affect my day to day life – if I need to send a letter I will go to the post office.
“Some people look at modernising the system as a positive.
“But things are changing and we are unhappy.
“It’s a shame to see another British landmark vanish, but with High Streets struggling and life becoming more digital is the change shocking?
“It seems they are adding solar panels on the top which will prevent people putting personal knitted hats on them.
“The slots for the post looks like they are changing too.”
Royal Mail has been contacted for more information.
