eBay UK Protects Sellers From Fallout Of Royal Mail Tracking Issues

After weeks of sellers reporting problems with eBay UK not accurately showing Royal Mail tracking details, the platform has finally acknowledge the issue and promised protections against account defects that may have resulted from the glitch.

The announcement posted in the eBay UK forum says the issue has been resolved and future Royal Mail tracking update will be in “near real time”.

Important information regarding Royal Mail tracking updates

We are aware that in some cases sellers may have been affected by an issue with Royal Mail tracking not updating on your orders.

We can confirm that this issue has now been resolved by Royal Mail and future orders will receive near real-time tracking updates. We are continuing to work closely with Royal Mail to retrieve all missing tracking events from this period.

To ensure this does not impact your seller standards performance, eBay will automatically protect your performance on affected transactions (provided tracking shows order was delivered on time) between 6–15 October 2025. This covers:

  • Your late delivery rate, which will be removed for affected orders between 6 October to 15 October 2025
  • Your “item not received” count in your service metrics dashboard
  • We will also remove any negative and neutral feedback relating to or arising from late or non-delivery as a result of this tracking upload issue

Please be aware that the removal of defects can take time and may still be visible for a number of weeks on seller accounts. We strive to have all defects removed prior to the next related seller standards cycle.

While sellers will no doubt appreciate those protections, they don’t address the disruption to cash flow it may have also caused for some sellers who are increasingly having payouts held until after delivery confirmation.
