1,210 affected employees made redundant are being supported – with seven branches shutting across Greater Manchester
Pizza Hut bosses have confirmed that 68 stores and 11 delivery sites across the country have shut with immediate effect.
It was announced yesterday that a popular franchisee of the beloved American chain, DC London Pie ltd, was being forced to close a number of sites after its owners went into administration resulting in the loss of 1,210 jobs. At the time, it was not clear whether the sites would close right away.
Seven Greater Manchester stores have now closed, with Wigan (Robin Park), Urmston (Trafford Retail Park), Rochdale (Sandbrook Leisure Park) and Oldham (Elk Mill Retail Park) sites all included.
The Pizza Hut at Manchester Fort Shopping Centre has also closed, as has the Bolton store at Middlebrook Retail Park. The Ashton store at Snipe Retail Park has also closed with immediate effect.

FTI Consulting LLP, who are the appointed administrators of DC London Pie Limited, said it had now completed its sale of certain parts of the business and its assets immediately.
Whilst 68 stores and 11 restaurants will close immediately, 64 additional sites previously run by the franchisee have been rescued by Pizza Hut UK, equaling in keeping 1,277 jobs safe.
The joint administrators said they are working with the 1,210 affected employees who were unfortunately made redundant, to support them at this difficult time.
It has been reported that challenges facing the franchisee included difficult trading conditions and increased costs. In addition, it faced material cash flow pressures as a result of tax-related obligations.
Matt Callaghan, joint administrator, commented:“This transaction provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands, securing the continuation of 64 Pizza Hut sites and importantly preserves 1,276 jobs.
“The joint administrators will continue to work with employees who have unfortunately been made redundant, to ensure they get the support needed.”
Nicolas Burquier, Managing Director International Operating Markets for Pizza Hut UK, added: “This targeted acquisition aims to safeguard our guest experience and protect jobs where possible.
“Our immediate priority is operational continuity at the acquired locations and supporting colleagues through the transition.”
