Popular delivery services are now warning Scots that there is a deadline they will need to meet for their Christmas shopping in order to make sure it arrives before the big day. To help ease this stress, the Royal Mail and Evri have both confirmed when it is too late to get a guaranteed delivery.
This doesn’t just hinder your own Christmas shopping, but also any cards or parcels you are planning to send to loved ones, reports the Mirror. It is advised that Scots plan ahead to make sure any items are shipped and in the system before the deadlines hit.
Evri Festive Deadlines
Friday, December 19: This is the last day for courier collections or sending a parcel by standard delivery from an Evri ParcelShop or Locker (by 11am)
Saturday, December 20: This is the last day for sending a parcel next-day delivery from an Evri ParcelShop or Locker (by 11am)
Evri bosses are urging customers to plan ahead this festive season to make sure they meet the deadlines. Additionally, for added peace of mind, it is advised that people aim for a few days before the actual end dates to secure a delivery.

Royal Mail Festive Deadlines
During the festive season, the Royal Mail experiences a surge in demand. Along with more parcels and gifts in the system due to Christmas being just around the corner, the service also needs to work through non-festive deliveries that need to be made.
To guarantee your cards and parcels delivered before the big day, the below dates apply for a range of services for post sent between UK addresses. It should be noted that there are separate deadlines for international posts.
Wednesday, December 17: 2nd Class / 2nd Class Signed For
Friday, December 19: Royal Mail Tracked 48®
Saturday, December 20: 1st Class / 1st Class Signed For
Sunday, December 21: Royal Mail Tracked 24®
Tuesday, December 23: Special Delivery Guaranteed
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Last posting dates are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change. It’s always advisable to post as early as possible to ensure that your Christmas letters and parcels reach their destination in good time.”
The average time for an item to be sent by post ahead of Christmas can vary significantly depending on the service. While it is important to make sure these deadlines are met, Brits should be aware that these could be delayed by extreme weather or strike action.
