Children can write to Santa and receive a personalised reply through Royal Mail for just 87p
Were you aware that your child can receive a letter from Father Christmas himself, and even better, it can be delivered in British Sign Language (BSL) or braille? This timely reminder comes courtesy of MoneySavingExpert (MSE), which warns that the deadline is rapidly approaching.
MSE, co-founded by Martin Lewis, highlighted in a recent article that all children can take part in this festive tradition. You can send a letter for as little as 87p, though with first-class postage it costs £1.70.
“Each year, Santa’s elves at the Royal Mail can help you get a free letter from Santa, if you write to him by early December,” the financial experts explained.
They added: “Technically, it isn’t 100% free as you’ll need to post your letter to Santa with a stamp (£1.70 first-class, 87p second). Remember to include a full name and address, so Santa knows where to send his reply.”
The cut-off date this year is Wednesday, December 10, so it’s essential to act quickly. ‘Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ’ is the address that people are advised to send their letters to. For braille replies, customers can also arrange this by emailing santamail@royalmail. com.
Official guidance from the Post Office also explains: “Santa’s mailbox is open. Make sure your letter reaches him by 10 December 2025, and he’ll send you a special reply, delivered with plenty of Christmas cheer.
“Tell Santa what’s on your Christmas list. Don’t forget to include your name and address, so Santa knows how to reach you. Santa can reply in English, Welsh or Braille. He’ll reply to letters from 18 November. After that, Santa’s in full Christmas mode. So make sure your letter gets to him in good time.”
‘Santa’ also advises on the Royal Mail’s website: “I will be getting my sleigh ready for the long journey on Christmas Eve. In between I will try and reply to as many of you as possible.”
