Paul O’Kane MSP has praised Barrhead postal workers

Paul O’Kane highlighted the valuable work of local post office workers during a recent visit to Barrhead Delivery Office, where he observed the team in action as they prepare for another busy festive period.

The Labour MSP, who represents East Renfrewshire as part of his West Scotland remit, said: “I think it’s easy to take for granted that our mail gets sent and arrives precisely when we want it to.

“Our letters, cards and parcels get to where they need to be because of the relentless hard work and focus of Royal Mail staff members.

“It’s remarkable to see just how busy they are, but how effortlessly they cope with it all.

“They deserve a huge thanks, not just the team in Barrhead but posties across our country who are working ever so hard to make sure our mail is arriving on time during one of the busiest times of the year.”

Mr O’Kane also highlighted the importance of ensuring postal workers can carry out their duties without fear of abuse.

He said: “As posties go above and beyond to deliver our mail on time at this busy end to the year, they should be able to do so safely without facing hostility.

“They’re doing their very best to serve all of our communities.”
