Two people were left trapped after a horror crash in a UK city centre that saw emergency services – including an air ambulance – rush to the scene. The incident occurred in the car park of Parc Tawe retail park in Swansea city centre shortly after 2pm on Friday.
Officials from the Welsh Ambulance Service, South Wales Police, and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident, where two casualties were trapped following a collision involving two cars. Photos from the scene show the area near the Deichmann and Home Bargains stores was cordoned off, with police cars, ambulances, and a fire engine surrounding the site. Emergency crews, including paramedics and firefighters, were actively treating the injured, creating a significant emergency response presence around the blocked‑off section.
A fire service spokesman said: “At 2.12pm on Friday, December 19, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Swansea Central and Swansea West Fire Stations were called to an incident at the Parc Tawe North Retail Park in Swansea City Centre.
“Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving two private motor vehicles. Crews were involved in releasing two trapped casualties using e-draulic equipment.
“This incident required a multi-agency response, with South Wales Police and the Ambulance Service also in attendance. Crews left the scene at 2.45pm.”
A witness told WalesOnline they saw the air ambulance land at the shopping park “after multiple police cars and first responders” arrived.
