Royal Mail issues fresh warning to 92 UK postcodes where Xmas deliveries are ‘not guaranteed’

ROYAL Mail has just released an updated list of postcodes that may not be “guaranteed” deliveries in the days up to Christmas.

The service has apologised to customers at 92 postcodes that are likely to face delivery delays.

This comes as a wave of angry customers have taken to social media to post their dissatisfaction with the service.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

TAXING TIMES

HMRC makes big penalty change for millions filing their tax returns in WEEKS

The update follows a £21 million fine issued by Ofcom in November after Royal Mail failed to meet its targets for 2024/25, with the service only delivering 77 per cent of first-class and 92.5 per cent of second-class mail on-time, well below its targets of 93 per cent and 98.5 per cent.

The delivery service said a small number of their offices may not be able to deliver to all address due to to high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other factors.

These delays have led to a swarm of customers voicing their anger online during the Christmas period.

One customer, Anne, said: “@BootsUK do you realise that you carrier @RoyalMail has sorting offices in chaos with parcels mounting up and no one to deliver.

“Tracking is non existent and you believe your customers have their goods.

“They haven’t! 151 postcodes are affected including mine!”

Another online user, Helen, said: “@RoyalMail your Deeside office is a shambles, they said yesterday they couldn’t deliver my parcel as no one was in but they did deliver a parcel but not the one I desperately need and paid extra for faster delivery, they said it would be delivered today and I’m still waiting!”
