King Charles hinted at bigger roles for the kids of Prince William and Kate Middleton in his Christmas message, an expert has claimed.
According to Robert Hardman, the monarch had a stronger focus on some key members of the royal family.
Charles delivered his annual speech from Westminster Abbey, where he spoke about life as a “pilgrimage” and referred to the journey of the wise men in the Christmas story, highlighting the challenges they faced and the strength they found along the way.
The broadcast included images of several senior royals, such as Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
However, Hardman said it was the frequent appearance of Prince George and Princess Charlotte that stood out most.
He said that Duchess Sophie was seen in the broadcast “as often as the Princess of Wales,” adding, “It was a nod from the King to the importance of the Edinburghs to the small, core royal unit, alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, the indefatigable Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.”
“It was also good to see a carefully calibrated, enhanced role for both Prince George and Princess Charlotte,” the royal expert penned for Daily Mail.
