Royal Mail’s Redditch posties thanked at Christmas

Postal workers at Redditch Royal Mail Delivery Office have been thanked as thousands of cards and parcels made their way to homes across the town and surrounding villages.

Staff at the Fishing Line Road depot are currently handling a significant increase in deliveries as Christmas approaches, with teams working long hours to ensure letters, parcels and essential items arrive on time.

The festive rush plays a vital role in keeping families connected and supporting local businesses and charities during the holiday season.

As part of Royal Mail’s annual Christmas visits programme, Redditch and the Villages MP Chris Bloore visited the delivery office to see the operation first-hand and to meet the posties and delivery staff behind the scenes.

During the visit, he spoke with workers about the pressures of the festive period and the challenges of managing higher workloads at this time of year.

Chris Bloore said: “It was a real pleasure to visit the Redditch Delivery Office and to thank local posties in person for the incredible work they do, especially at this extremely busy time of year.

“Our postal workers go above and beyond to make sure Christmas cards, parcels and essentials reach people on time, often in challenging conditions.

“Their dedication keeps our communities connected, not just at Christmas but throughout the year,” he said.

The visit also highlighted the scale of the Christmas operation, with staff preparing and sorting large volumes of mail destined for homes and businesses across Redditch and nearby villages.

Chris Bloore said speaking directly to frontline workers was an important part of understanding local issues.

“Taking the time to listen helps me better understand the pressures people face and strengthens my ability to represent them effectively.”

Royal Mail’s Christmas visits programme runs nationwide each year.
