First look at Stranger Things themed stamps released to celebrate hit Netflix show’s finale

The 14 stamps each feature illustrations of the show’s cast of ‘unforgettable’ characters

At 1am on New Year’s Day, many fans gathered around their screens to watch the finale of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. And now Royal Mail has announced a set of stamps to commemorate the conclusion of the series.

The collection consists of 14 stamps (10 main stamps and four miniature stamps), all of which feature illustrations of the show’s characters and locations. You can purchase all 14 stamps for £24.70 in a presentation pack.

The miniature stamp sheet features four of the main characters cycling way from the show’s eldritch antagonist – with each stamp being a cut-out, framing the characters.

The 10 main stamps are composed of iconic elements from the show – with each stamp featuring a main portrait, a location and supporting characters in the background.

The main stamps are separated into two groups, half of them having a red theme and the other half blue. The blue-themed stamps represent the show’s supernatural alternative-dimension the ‘Upside Down’ whereas the reds represent the ‘real’ world.

Kyle Lambert, the British artist behind the series’ iconic illustrative works, has worked with the show across all five seasons and collaborated with the Royal Mail on this project, with the stamps being the latest addition to his portfolio alongside: billboards, merchandise, comic books and global advertising campaigns.

Stranger Things, which had its season premiere late last year, was one of Netflix’s pioneering original shows. Its conclusion ends a 9 year run with the show starting in July of 2016. The show quickly grew a following through its mystery-focused plot and kept viewers spellbound with its use of 80s nostalgia.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Stranger Things with this striking stamp collection. Each design captures the essence of the series” said David Gold, Director of External Affairs & Policy at Royal Mail.

“Each design captures the essence of the series – from its unforgettable characters to the eerie imagery that has gripped audiences worldwide.”

These stamps will be a welcome addition to any collectors album, just as long as they don’t put them in ‘upside down’.

The stamps are available to pre-order and will go on sale from the 13th of January. The collection can be purchased here or by telephone at 03457 641 641.
