Royal Mail released 12 stamps on January 21 celebrating the supersonic passenger jet, which made aviation history on the same date in 1976.
The collection includes eight stamps featuring historic images of Concorde, including its first and last commercial flights.
Four additional stamps are part of a miniature sheet, three of which are reissued designs from the 1969 ‘First Flight of Concorde’ issue, and a fourth by David Gentleman that was previously shortlisted but never used.
David Gold, director of external affairs and policy at Royal Mail, said: “Concorde remains one of the most iconic achievements in aviation history, and we’re proud to celebrate its legacy with this special set of stamps.
“These designs pay tribute to the innovation, elegance, and engineering excellence that made Concorde a symbol of British ingenuity and ambition.”
In July 1967, the British and French postal services agreed to issue stamps marking Concorde’s first flight, though each would have its own unique design.
Five leading designers were invited to submit concepts, and the final selection was approved by Queen Elizabeth II in January 1968.
The first commercial Concorde flight took place on January 21, 1976, with British Airways flying from London to Bahrain and Air France from Paris to Rio de Janeiro via Dakar.
