‘I’m a vet and there’s 1 dog more aggressive than a pitbull’

As part of his content, he shared a brief TikTok clip highlighting a particular breed, captioned: “Everyone says that pitbulls are the most aggressive dog breed…” The footage then transitions to Amir peering through a partially open door, with the text “Belgian Malinois” overlaid on the screen. In a follow-up video, he elaborated on why novice dog owners should avoid Belgian Malinois, stating: “They’re not a normal dog, not a normal pet,” while characterising the breed as a “machine”.

He continued: “This dog is not just an add-on to your life – this is your life. They need an incredible amount of physical and mental stimulation just to stay happy. You need to research this breed properly and make sure this is what you want before getting one.”

Responding to his content, one viewer remarked: “Aggressive is not the word I’d use to describe a Belgian Malinois – maybe psychotic, bats*** crazy, or downright insane. Anything along those lines.”

Another added: “The problem with Malinois is that they’re too smart. In the hands of the wrong owner, it could be an absolute disaster.”

A third viewer said: “As a UPS driver, there are two breeds I’m terrified of – Chihuahuas and Malinois.”

One commenter said: “As an owner of a bully, I have to say I agree they definitely have a temper. He couldn’t get on the bed, so he took my blanket off me because the cat was sitting on the ottoman and he wouldn’t jump up from the side of the bed. He was mad because I was laughing.”

Another contributor stated: “I’ve worked in the ER for over 30 years, and the vast majority of dog bites are not only from pitbulls.”

A third person added: “I’ve had pibbles my whole life and now have a Malinois. She’s just as cuddly – she isn’t a house hippo, more like Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon (she’s black with grey markings).”

Regarding bringing a dog into your household, veterinarian Anwary emphasises the importance of thorough research and spending quality time with particular breeds before making a commitment.

He stresses that owners must dedicate sufficient time to properly training their pets – whether through professional classes, home-based instruction, or adequate socialisation opportunities.
